Congratulations to Gernot Heiser, NICTA’s Software Systems Research Group Leader, on being named an ACM Fellow for Innovations in Computing.

The ACM recognised 47 of its members for their contributions to computing that are driving innovation across multiple domains and disciplines.

“Our world has been immeasurably improved by the impact of their innovations,” said Alexander Wolf, ACM President. “We recognise their contributions to the dynamic computing technologies that are making a difference to the study of computer science, the community of computing professionals and the countless consumers and citizens who are benefiting from their creativity and commitment.”

Gernot received his Fellowship for contributions demonstrating that provably correct operating systems are feasible and suitable for real-world use.  ACM stands for the Association for Computing Machinery. It is the world’s largest scientific and educational computing society, with more than 100,000 members.
