The AREMI catalogue has been enriched with other data sets such as: population figures recorded at the last Census (2011); radio licences; and elevation information, like the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) 5 Metre Grid of Australia derived from LiDAR models. This interesting dataset represents a 5 metre (bare earth) DEM which has been derived from some 236 individual LiDAR surveys between 2001 and 2015 covering an area in excess of 245,000 square kilometres. The coverage is being improved over time as Geoscience Australia integrate more LiDAR surveys into this layer.
From a content perspective, other highlights include improved data layers for distance to transmission lines and distance to substations and an increase in the number of Environmental data layers, provided by the Department of Environment.
In regards to features, it’s worth mentioning the progress made on improving the CSV support with better auto generated legends and the polished Feature Info panel for most of the data sets.
