Spatial Information Theory

Spatial Information Theory: Project Completed

There exist fundamental limits on the capacity of wireless communication. The major limits are the spectral limit (bandwidth limit), power limit and the spatial limit. The former two have been treated well in theory for the conventional communication systems and can be extended for broadband wireless systems. However, the spatial limit is relatively new and is a potential area of research in this project. The capacity of the wireless systems, especially indoor wireless systems, depends on the environment and the spatial samples taken form the available channel. Theoretical analysis on information theory and spatial limits and statistical analysis of channel models such as, calculating capacity of channels with memory, techniques for exploiting channel capacity for cross layer system optimization are the key research in this area.
