Management of Connectivity

The connectivity a device experiences will depend on a number of physical attributes such as its orientation, propagation conditions, and access to network type as well as the usage: the number of users, type of activity etc. As the connectivity changes, the level of service and access to information that can be provided will invariably change. In case of wireless networks, connectivity characteristics will change much more dynamically due to the changes in physical attributes as well as usage.
Therefore, it is necessary to develop new methods of determining the availability of connectivity. The challenge is to develop models that can characterise the connections, predict the availability and tune the system to provide the optimum connectivity to provide the services and applications that users need.
