The video schematically illustrates the recording of an electronically evoked compound action potential from a spinal cord.

The illustration includes an electrode array with a number of ring contacts and a presentation of a segment of the spinal cord.

The red line illustrates a biphasic stimulus pulse which generates action potentials (causes axons in the spinal cord to fire).  The action potentials propagate down the length of the spinal cord where they can be detected as a tiny electrical charge induced on another electrode on the array (illustrated by the blue line).
