Intelligent Transport Systems
Transport systems that are 'intelligent' are more efficient, easier to use and have less environmental impact than those systems that are not.
Smarter, safer, cleaner and more efficient transport is the aim of NICTA’s research into Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
ICT can help focus on problems associated with traffic management, infrastructure management and security, enhanced driver safety and logistics support for transport operations.
NICTA researchers are also working on technologies for driver assistance and transport logistics.

Developing technology solutions to help organisations such as freight, logistics and transportation operators better utilise their mobile assets and resources under diverse constraints.
The Smart Transport and Roads project (STaR) technologies are applied to transport and road systems
Develop efficient tools to answer pattern questions in large data sets related to movement of objects
Development of improved solvers, visualisation of constraint graphs and of the software and contribution to applications for end users including Roads and Traffic Authority, NSW
Develop and implement a precisely specified, secure API for the L4 microkernel
Develop techniques for obtaining a complete timing model of a production quality microkernel
