Trinabh Gupta, Sanchit Garg, Anirban Mahanti, Niklas Carlsson, Martin Arlitt
It is increasingly common for users to have accounts with multiple different social networking services. Motivated by this scenario, “social aggregation” services have been intro- duced, which aggregate the information available through various services. FriendFeed is one such service. Using five weeks of activity of more than 100,000 active users, we delve into questions such as what types of services users aggregate content from, the relative popularity of services, who follows the aggregated content feeds, and why.
Keywords: Social aggregation, workload characterization
