Vladimir Tosic - Conference Tutorials
Vladimir Tosic - Conference Tutorials
Intermediate-level tutorials on (quality of service - QoS) management of service-oriented systems:
- Bartolini, C., Tosic, V., Hung, P.C.K. "Business-Driven Management and Governance of Service-Oriented Systems", 3 hour intermediate-level tutorial at the 7th IEEE International Conference on Web Services (ICWS 2009, Los Angeles, USA, July 6-10, 2009). abstract (ICWS 2009 Web site), NICTA Publications Database (abstract)
- While the ICWS 2009 reused some bits of material from previous tutorials, it is a different tutorial. The primary authors of this tutorial are Claudio Bartolini and Patric C.K. Hung, while the contribution of Vladimir Tosic is minor.
- Tosic, V., Bartolini, C., Hung, P.C.K. "Management of Service-Oriented Systems", 3 hour intermediate-level tutorial at the 20th Australian Software Engineering conference (ASWEC 2009, Gold Coast, Australia, April 14-17, 2009). abstract (ASWEC 2009 Web site), NICTA Publications Database (abstract & PDF slides 6 per page)
- The ASWEC 2009 tutorial was based on the BPM 2008 tutorial (and thus the CEC/EEE 2006 and ICWS/SCC 2005 tutorials). It contained some updates and additional material on bridging design-time software engineering of service-oriented systems with their run-time management, but it also had a somewhat narrower focus.
- Tosic, V., Bartolini, C., Hung, P.C.K. "Management of Service-Oriented Implementations of Business Processes: From Quality of Service to Business Value", 3.5 hour intermediate-level tutorial at the 6th International Conference on Business Process Management (BPM 2008, Milan, Italy, September 1-4, 2008). abstract (BPM 2008 Web site, please scroll to the bottom), NICTA Publications Database (abstract & PDF slides 6 per page)
- The BPM 2008 tutorial was based on the CEC/EEE 2006 tutorial (and thus the ICWS/SCC 2005 tutorial). It contained considerable extensions (e.g., about business driven IT management - BDIM and the Information Technology Infrastructure Library - ITIL) and some updates, but it also had a narrower focus (e.g. the material on QoS description and management was reduced significantly).
- Tosic, V., Hung, P.C.K. "Contract-Based QoS Monitoring and Control of XML Web Services", 3 hour intermediate-level tutorial presented at the Joint 8th IEEE Conference on E-Commerce Technology and 3rd IEEE Conference on Enterprise Computing, E-Commerce and E-Services (CEC/EEE 2006, San Francisco, USA, June 26-29, 2006). slides (PDF, 6 per page)
- The CEC/EEE 2006 tutorial was based on the ICWS/SCC 2005 tutorial. It contained some updates, but it also had a somewhat narrower focus (e.g., some aspects of Web service selection based on QoS were omitted).
- The additional resource document "Selected Resources on Quality of Service (QoS) Specification and Contract-Based Management for XML Web Services" was prepared for the CEC/EEE 2006 tutorial. It is an updated super-set of the additional resource prepared for the ICWS/SCC 2005 tutorial. resource document (PDF)
- Tosic, V., Hung, P.C.K. "Quality of Service (QoS) Specification and Management for XML Web Services ", 3.5 hour intermediate-level tutorial presented at the 2005 IEEE Joint International Conference on Web Services / Services Computing Conference (ICWS/SCC 2005, Orlando, USA, July 11-15, 2005). abstract (ICWS 2005 Web site), slides (PDF, 6 per page)
- The additional resource "Selected Resources on Quality of Service (QoS) Specification and Management for XML Web Services " was prepared for the ICWS/SCC 2005 tutorial.
Beginner-level tutorials on Web service technologies (they also briefly mentioned a few intermediate-level topics):
- Tosic, V., Hung, P.C.K. "XML Web Services: Standards, Tools, and Ongoing Work towards Comprehensive Contractual Description", 4 hour beginner-level tutorial presented at the 2007 WSEAS International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications (CEA'07, Gold Coast, Australia, January 17-19, 2007). slides (PDF, 6 per page)
- The CEA 2007 tutorial was based on the WTAS 2005 tutorial, but it contained significant updates and extensions (e.g., a demonstration of popular open-source Web service tools).
- Tosic, V., Hung, P.C.K. "Comprehensive Description and Management of XML Web Services ", 2.5 hour beginner-level tutorial presented at the IASTED International Conference on Web Technologies, Applications, and Services (WTAS 2005, Calgary, Canada, July 4-6, 2005). slides (PDF, 6 per page)
