Bill Shui

Researcher


Bill currently works as a researcher at the Neville Roach Laboratory, Kensington. He is a key member of the Universal Storage Scheme project. His main role includes the following:

  • Executes the implementation and integration of the award winning mContextTM platform.
  • Coordinates and presents demo prototypes at public events, such as the NICTA Techfest, CeBIT.AU and so on.
  • Manages and deploys demo prototypes, such as the mContextTM platform, fast XSLT processor and desktop synchronization.
  • Source code and documentation maintenance for the project and its related work from PhD students.

Research Interests:

Bill's main research interest is in managing and processing large scale XML data. More specifically, on the efficient processing of query languages such as XSLT, XML Query and XPath.

Professional Career: 

Formerly, an informatics programmer at Proteome Systems Ltd (ASX: PXL). Bill played a major role in designing and implementing the database layer behind their Proteomic Platforms such as the Xcise platform.

In late 1990s to early 2000, Bill also worked as a bioinformatics and software developer at eBioinformatics.
