Dr Phil Robertson is Chief Operating Officer at NICTA and has over 25 years experience in technology research, development and commercialisation in both the private and public sectors.

Before joining NICTA he was Director of Canon Information Systems Research Australia (CISRA), Canon’s Australian R&D subsidiary.  CISRA is one of Australia’s largest multinational research and development subsidiaries with over 300 staff. It has been successful in integrating its technologies with Canon’s global products.

Dr Robertson has previously held program and strategy management positions at CSIRO, Australia’s largest scientific and industrial research organisation.

He is a member of the Australian Government ICT Advisory Board, and of CSIRO’s ICT Sector Advisory Council, and has contributed to university, government and industry association committees, advisory boards and judging panels over the years.

He has published widely in imaging and visualisation, and served on the editorial boards of several international journals and conferences.  He has been guest speaker at a range of research, industry and other forums, and has been an advisor for Australian and international research initiatives.
