Tim Hesketh comes to the position of Director, Education from the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW. He has held a number of positions in the Faculty and University, many relevant to his NICTA portfolio: Associate Dean (Academic); Deputy President of Academic Board; Acting Dean; Project Director for UNSW Asia; and Head of School of Electrical Engineering & Telecommunications. His research interests are in control systems: nonlinear, adaptive, sliding mode, modelling and real-time implementation. He still supervises several PhD students. He has research associations with other universities too, for example holding an adjunct professorship at UWS. One of his roles will be to build relationships with universities who are not NICTA partners.
