I am conducting research in the business area of "Life Science" under the theme of "Managing Complexity" in the Victoria Research Lab (VRL). The research looks at converting the huge amount of microscopic iamge/video data, generated by biological research labs, drug developers/research institutes around the world, into meaningful information. Each user or group of users of these microscopic image/video data faces slightly different problem in terms of processing the data and extracting information from the data mainly because of variations in operating environment and the final set of information they are looking for. We are looking at identifying and developing a platform and an array of core algorithms which will cope with this variability intelligently across the broad range of requirements. This will significantly reduce the development time of various drugs and cure for diseases like cancer, immune deficiency, artificial organ/tissue development and many others. Besides, such a generic platform will assist the biology researchers into understanding the fundamental of cell biology and enhance the potential of finding cures of many more health issues much faster.
