Better C/C++ Source Code with Goanna Static Code Analysis
Presenter: Dr Ralf Huuck, NICTA and Red Lizard Software
Flyer: Click here to open the flyer
Abstract: Software bugs are expensive. It is estimated that millions of professional software developers, spend 25% of their time testing and debugging programs. Goanna combines the technologies of static analysis and model checking creating a unique solution for the improvement of C/C++ source code at development time. The analysis is performed quickly, often in a matter of seconds, does not require test cases or even fully developed code. This talk presents the principles of static analysis in general, and that of Goanna in particular. We will also demonstrate the Goanna IDE (Integrated Development Environment) plug-ins for Visual Studio and Eclipse. Goanna, developed after four years of research at NICTA, is currently being commercialized by Red Lizard Software and is available at their web site: http://www.redlizards.com/index1.html. |

A Space Policy for Australia: Challenges and Opportunities
Presenter: Mr Brett Biddington, Cisco Systems
Flyer: Click here to open the flyer
Abstract: In the past year, the Australian Government has signalled that it is seeking to play a much more active role in space in the future than has been the case in the past. Government understands that Australia, as do all nations, has enormous dependence on space-based services (for timing and navigation, communications and earth observations) but only the most limited capacity to participate in the international political and diplomatic discussions about space which seek to make access to such services assured and secure. The Government's determination to act was clearly signalled in the May Budget when a $40 million Australian Space Research Program was announced. In this seminar we will review these developments, consider the space environment of the future and suggest what a national space policy might need to embrace to be useful, actionable and credible. |
