Unearthed is a 54-hour open innovation event focused on the resources sector. Software developers, data scientist, designers, and industry insiders come together to develop prototype solutions to resources sector problems. Unearthed Sydney is Big Data focused with large operational, maintenance, geological and additional data sets opened for participants to work with.
This year the Unearthed Sydney Hackathon was held on August 28 – 30th. Simon O’Callaghan, Alistair Reid, Daniel Steinberg and Lachlan McCalman entered the challenge and we are very pleased to announce that they won the Sydney event.
The challenge involved predicting platinum recovery rates using data from an array of sensors in the processing plant. Laboratory results were used to train and validate their model.
