University of Melbourne and Victorian Government Become NICTA Members
NICTA is pleased to announce that the University of Melbourne and the Victorian Government were admitted as NICTA Members at last week’s Annual General Meeting. They join NICTA’s founding members the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales Governments, the Australian National University and the University of New South Wales.
“The University of Melbourne is delighted that its collaboration with NICTA is being recognised through it being granted full Membership status,” said Professor Iven Mareels, Dean, Melbourne School of Engineering at the University of Melbourne.
NICTA CEO Hugh Durrant-Whyte said he was excited about NICTA’s growing reputation as a national ICT Research Centre of Excellence and its ability to attract the best academic institutions and researchers. “We warmly welcome the Victorian Government’s and University of Melbourne’s desire for a more formal involvement with NICTA and look forward to working with them to make Australia proud of NICTA’s success. With some of Australia’s best research scientists on board, I believe NICTA is well-placed to reach its goal of becoming a research institution amongst the top ten in the world by 2020.”
Also announced at the NICTA Annual General Meeting was the extension of four Board appointments to 2013 – Professor Michael Brooks, Mr Brand Hoff, Mr Barney Glover and Mr George Campbell. NICTA thanks them for their continued support.
