NICTA opens door to innovation at CeBIT Australia 2010
Customers from sectors including finance, Government, transport and health will all benefit from exciting IT and communications technologies NICTA is exhibiting at CeBIT Australia this year. Twelve of our leading research teams will attend CeBIT, Australia’s top business and technology showcase.“This is NICTA’s sixth year at CeBIT Australia and once again we are showing off a terrific line-up of technologies that are needed to solve the hard problems facing society,” said NICTA CEO Dr David Skellern. “With the rollout of the National Broadband Network now underway, CeBIT is more important than ever, providing Australia’s IT and communications industry with a vibrant platform to explore and promote the new opportunities offered by this enormous infrastructure project.”
In its first public outing, NICTA’s Cognitive and Organisational Systems Engineering (COSE) project will show how we are helping to improve air traffic management, health information systems and medical error rates. Find out more about the technology we are developing to help build a future bionic eye with Bionic Vision Australia, and hear how NICTA spin-out company Open Kernel Labs (OK Labs) is helping build effective, cheap open platforms for mobile devices. Their software is now in over 600 million mobile devices. We will also demonstrate our latest e-Government offerings along with various applications and services for the NBN.
In addition to exhibiting, NICTA is taking part in the AusInnovate conference on the opening day of CeBIT. Dr John Parker, NICTA Chief Technology Officer, Implant Systems, will speak on the topic of emerging healthcare technologies. Dr David Skellern will take part in an AusInnovate panel exploring the issues Australia must address to gain maximum advantage from the NBN.
