NICTA gets down to business at CommunicAsia 2010

NICTA will demonstrate some of Australia’s smartest technology at Asia’s premier business-to-business event, CommunicAsia 2010 Singapore Expo. Eight of NICTA’s early stage businesses and research project teams will exhibit at CommunicAsia, which kicks off on Tuesday morning, 15 June and runs through Friday afternoon, 18 June.

Visitors to the NICTA stand in Hall 3 of the Singapore Expo Convention and Exhibition Centre will be able to see some of our market-ready technologies, explore the vision-processing systems we are developing as part of Bionic Vision Australia (BVA) to help build a future bionic eye, and look at some of our latest ideas.

Come and see us to find out more about:

• The latest news from our research collaboration with Singapore’s A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research (I²R)

• Online systems performance and modelling tools for large enterprises

• Technology for environmentally sustainable water management

• Distributed platforms to support multi-player online games.

In addition, NICTA’s Director of Commercialisation & Markets, Rob Fitzpatrick, will speak on Tuesday afternoon at an Australian High Commission seminar, Why Australia for ICT? His talk will show how information and communications technology (ICT) is a key enabler for businesses as they strive for a competitive edge in the international marketplace. He will also look at the opportunities for commercialising technology in Australia and highlight the role organisations such as NICTA can play in delivering commercially innovative outcomes for industry.

"It is hard to think of an industry today that does not rely on IT and communications technologies for its survival. Australia’s historically strong bias to innovation is as strong in ICT as in any other field of endeavour," said Mr Fitzpatrick. "Exhibiting at CommunicAsia gives NICTA a great platform to demonstrate our innovation and commercial orientation to an international audience, learn more about the markets we are selling into, and see how we can make even smarter technologies to answer some of the tough questions in health, the environment and the digital economy."

CommunicAsia was first staged in 1979. The annual event brings buyers and sellers together to seek the best returns on investment and to determine the best value and latest convergent technologies and applications. CommunicAsia2010, together with BroadcastAsia2010, will feature almost 2,000 exhibitors from 57 countries and regions. These international companies, ranging from market leading multinationals to innovative small and medium sized enterprises, will occupy 58,000 square metres of hall space in Singapore Expo.
