7-IP
7-IP

The Company: 7-ip is a recently formed NICTA spin-out company. It delivers optimised and instant wireless telecommunication solutions. The company’s products are designed to run on wireless access networks including satellite, WiMax or 4G, and to deliver a mix of voice, data and office-related services

The Challenge

  • Setting up and maintaining communications links for groups of people working in remote locations can be a tough task. A lack of technical support and the need for equipment that is portable puts immediate constraints on design and function. Then there are the additional challenges imposed by wireless communications links and a requirement to handle multiple voice and data streams concurrently.
  • Existing technologies do not adequately address the dual problem of coping with the long delays inherent in satellite links and the need for data compression to reduce the amount of bandwidth required.

The Results

  • 7-ip has developed a family of remote products including, 7-RR100 remote router and 7-RG100 remote gateway optimised for satellite and wireless links. These solve the network performance and cost issues associated with telephony and data access in remote locations.

Contribution

  • 7-ip has received pre-seed funding from NICTA for prototype development and commercialisation activities.
