Dr Alex Smola, NICTA

Alex Smola is leader of NICTA's Statistical Machine Learning Program in Canberra and a senior lecturer at the Australian National University. He has written and edited several books on kernel methods and he is internationally recognized for his work on nonparametric methods in machine learning (he has published over 100 articles on this subject). Before joining NICTA he worked for the Australian National University, the Fraunhofer Institute in Berlin and AT&T Research in Holmdel, NJ.
