This 1-day course provides a complete overview of Systems Engineering Best Practices, and “why” they should be implemented in complex Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Projects. The focus is on Systems Engineering as a necessary Risk Mitigation discipline applied early during the life cycle phases of the project to increase the chances of success in final phases, and graceful system acceptance. The course is based on the recommendations of Best Practice as articulated in Bodies of Knowledge such as CMMI, ISO/IEC-15288, EIA/ANSI-632, and IEEE-1220.
This course is aimed at graduates in specific disciplines of Engineering who are considering Systems Engineering as a career, and also at non-technical project personnel such as Project Managers, Contract Administrators etc. who have a need to work alongside Systems Engineers in complex ICT projects. At the end of this introduction course delegates should be able to work in complex ICT projects in a technical role under supervision from an experienced Systems Engineer. Project Managers who follow this course will be in a position to manage their project with increased effectiveness as a result of being conversant with “what” is contributed by Systems Engineering towards successful delivery of ICT projects.
