Safety and Security
The Safety and Security sector has broad technological needs. NICTA's focus is on how ICT can improve avoidance and management of natural and man-made disasters. This includes improved surveillance technologies to avoid or predict disasters, improved crisis information systems for more efficient and effective responses to disasters, more robust communication systems that will work better in disaster situations and better planning and scheduling.
Our major project in this area is Smart Applications for Emergencies (SAFE), which focuses on prediction, response and recovery from natural disasters and other emergencies.
